ERICA Assessment Tool - Launched 2007
Facilia has played a vital role in ERICA, an EC project dedicated to assessing the effects to biota from exposure to ionising radiation. Facilia has helped develop the ERICA Tool, a user-friendly software. To download the free ERICA Assessment Tool click here.
The full list of deliverables from the project are described on www.erica-project.org
Background
The Framework for ASSessment of Environmental ImpacT (FASSET) project funded under the EC 5th Framework Programme (contract FIGE-CT-2000-00102) is the starting point for ERICA. FASSET was completed at the end of 2003 and brought to radiation protection a framework for the assessment of environmental impact of ionising radiation. The framework brought together current knowledge about sources, exposure, dosimetry and environmental effects / consequences for reference organisms and ecosystems. Relevant components of the framework were identified on an ecosystem basis through systematic consideration of the available data.

The FASSET project however did not extend the impact assessment into risk characterisation and decision-making. The ERICA (Environmental Risk from Ionising Contaminants: Assessment and Management) project was therefore developed within the EC 6th Framework Programme, which started in March 2004, under contract No.: FI6R-CT-2004-508847, and ended at the end of February 2007.
