PULS

Background

The goal of the project PULS is to review the current Swedish Regulations for a Safe Handling of Radioactive Waste Originated from Non-nuclear Applications of Radioactive Sources. The results of the risk assessments carried out within the present project will be used as underpinning information for the review.

Objective

To carry out safety risk assessment for radionuclide releases from all Swedish hospitals and develop a proposal for regulatory control.

To incorporate the findings under PULS into the NKS project.

Output

The model LUCIA was developed and applied for estimating doses to workers and the public from releases from hospitals. Reference release levels were also derived.
